The Amhara Fano People’s Organization (AFPO) extends its warm congratulations to the Republican President-elect of the U.S., Donald J. Trump, and Senator Marco Rubio, a nominee for Secretary of State, on their election victory against Democrats.

In a recorded video message, Eskider Nega, head of the Amhara Fano People’s Organization, congratulated the American people for freely accomplishing the 2024th election.

“The people voted in an orderly manner and the results were largely announced within a reasonable time without any serious doubt. All sides have, in the end, accepted the peaceful transfer of power,” he said, appreciating the election process.

Eskinder highlighted the consistent democratic culture of the U.S. over the last 200 years as a legacy to future generations. “We too, as the Amhara Fano People’s Organization (AFPO), acknowledge its majesty and its example,” he emphasized.

He congratulates Donald Trump on his election victory as the 47th President of the U.S. and wishes him the “best of luck in making America great again,” reminding the world would be peaceful in the “greatness of the U.S”.

Eskider has also congratulated Senator Marco Rubio, who is expected to be named Secretary of State under the Trump administration.

Marco Rubio of Florida has long been known for advocating for human rights and is a long-time supporter of Eskider Nega’s cause in Ethiopia.

“I had the privilege of meeting with Senator Marco Rubio in Washington, and he was kind enough to fit me into his very busy schedule and share his pragmatic vision of the world,” said Eskider.

“I am happy to say, I share this vision of pragmatism and optimism as well as the president’s vision of fairness and respect in world affairs,” he adds.

Fano, freedom fighters who represent the Amhara people, have been battling the regime forces with guns for more than 18 months now, although the government planned to disarm the group within two weeks.

AFPO, led by Eskider, represents only one of Fano’s various commands in Ethiopia’s Amhara region.
