The Chinese online retailer AliExpress, in partnership with the Ethiopian Airlines Group, launched an e-commerce service in Addis Ababa at the Skylight Hotel today.
The platform is a gateway to Africa, promoting connectivity between producers and consumers and opening opportunities to small-scale farmers and traders, the Chinese Embassy in Addis Ababa indicates.
Officials and senior business actors from Ethiopia and China, including Shen Qinmin, the minister counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia have attended the launching ceremony.
AliExpress started operation in 2010 as a business-to-business shopping and sales platform that has expanded its presence in countries like Germany, Russia, England, Portuguese, France, Korea, Vietnam, and Japan.
