The republican candidate of the U.S. House Virginia 8th district, Jerry Torres, has blamed Joe Biden’s administration for supporting “genocide” in Ethiopia’s Amhara region at the Grand Amhara Rally in Washington, DC.
He stressed the importance of action rather than talk and promised to request Congress to stop funding the dictator if elected.
“We must end this attempted genocide. The genocide is not a couple of hundred thousand people – millions of Amharas have lost their lives in the last decades. That is what we must stop,” he emphasized.

“In all my heart, in all my belief, in all my soul, and all my thought, I’m going to do everything I can to stop what is happening to the Amharas and Ethiopians,” Torres expressed his promise.
At the Grand Amhara Rally in Washington, DC, several Ethiopian diasporas in large number have denounced the U.S. government for “supporting the genocidal Abiy Ahmed’s regime” in Ethiopia.
Hermela, a 23-year-old protester, filled with tears, criticized the Western media houses including CNN for choosing silence instead of reporting atrocities and massacres against the Amhara people in Ethiopia.
She said that CNN was unwilling to report the rally although she and her friends asked CNN to report what was happening, referring to ideological differences.
“Ethiopia is a nation with an ancient history tracing back to the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewhaido Church. Not just that, but also Christianity right after Israel. We are people with faith. We are God-fearing people. People with kind hearts. And yet we have been wiped out,” she emphasized, demanding justice.
Hermela has also addressed the international community over their silence about the Amhara “genocide”. She said: “Human beings and children are dying. Ethiopian people are wiping, but the world is silent.”
